This little DIY was inspired by both Pie n' the Sky and A Beautiful Mess!
Supplies : Notebook, Paint (optional, I used white acrylic), glue, water, paint brush (or 2), magazines (I used old clothing catalogs), scissors
Supplies : Notebook, Paint (optional, I used white acrylic), glue, water, paint brush (or 2), magazines (I used old clothing catalogs), scissors
Step 1 : *Optional* Paint your notebook all one colour
Step 2 : Cut out lots of triangles! I made a little cardboard template so mine would all have the same shape
Step 3 : Mix some glue with water, and paint the mixture onto the back of your triangles, and place them on your journal
Step 4 : Place them in rows with little spaces between
Step 5 : I put a thin layer of the glue mix over the top of all the triangles once I finished, you could probably use mod podge, too!
Voila!
A cute new journal!
What would you use your new geometric journal for?

*Expect terrible quality photos for a while. My dad has been in one of his "I'm the only person in the house intelligent enough to use the cameras" mood. Basically, he hides all of our cameras, so that nobody can use them. It'll pass, but for now, enjoy the fuzzy iphone pictures!
P.S. Have any of you heard of this awesome little Wreck Your Journal thing?
I just bought this from Modcloth the other day along with a pretty tunic, and I am so excited to start using it!
The book came with this whole warning on one of the first few pages saying how you may be asked to do some outrageous things, but you have to do them.
This first page freaked me out. I almost couldn't make myself do it.
Crack the spine??
Scandalous!
(PSS I'm not even kidding)

WOW! Oh my gosh I am in love. LOVE LOVE! I am using this for Things I love Thursday. FOR SURE! :D
ReplyDeleteAww yay! I'm glad you like it!! :)

Love the journal! It looks fab, might have to give it a try (:
ReplyDeleteThis is cute! I might as well try it too. :)
ReplyDeletei have 'wreck this journal' journal and i loved tearing it to pieces! it was so fun!
ReplyDeletedrop by allister bee soon!
i had to make a journal (binding and all) my freshman year of college for one of our main design classes. i hated it, and since then, i look at things like this and "go oh that's neat, i could do that" then i think "oh wait....no i can't."
ReplyDeletestill, this is a great idea, and not as painstakingly obnoxious as making the entire thing from scratch.
i've never tried wreck this journal. an interesting idea, but i'm too cheap to buy something i am going to destroy.
Awesome tutorial, it turned out so nice. Also the journal you bought looks like so much fun - crack the spine lady!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great DIY. I've always wanted to create my own "wreck this journal".
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh, I had such trouble with the crack the spine thing too. Though I did decide to do! But when I tried it just wouldn't work haha;)
P.S. Thanks for letting me know the items arrived! Hope you'll enjoy them:D
what a cool diy! i'm obsessed, i want to try this now for sure
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea and it turned out amazing! Definitely something I'm going to try (eventually) because I'd like to see what it would look like using fabric scraps and different items like sequins or studs or something.
ReplyDeleteYour dad definitely sounds like mine.
Oh, and btw, your comment area is a little messed up on my end. Instead of the regular comment box area, it's a scroll box with the entire page in it. Don't know if it's just me or if it's just a problem with blogspot.
♥ Duckie.
That's weird? I don't see any problems on my end, but I've seen that happen with one of my other posts before. I'm hoping it's just an issue with blogspot because I have no idea how to fix that :(

oohhh, that geometric journal is so pretty! seriously, if i didn't already have like 10 zillion journals and notebooks, i'd definitely do it! to be honest, i still might, because i think i'm a journal hoarder.
ReplyDeleteCame out nicely! I really want to do this to a few journals myself :)
ReplyDeleteThe journal looks great, but I'm a graphic designer... so I'm a little over triangles now haha. I saw them sooo much during my last year of Uni. Anyway, that book you have! I bought one for my boyfriend, we haven't really use it yet but isn't the concept of it fun?
ReplyDelete@Magnet's comment above: that's so funny! I was just about to write how I am obsessed with triangles at the moment! I'm obviously very passé in terms of the world of design, haha! That will most definitely NOT stop me enjoying triangles however, they are simply too pretty :) This is a great DIY idea.
ReplyDeletewow, that is so creative! love it
