Songs & Words #3

Flowers In Your Hair by The Lumineers on Grooveshark
These word posts are quickly becoming a favorite of mine!
A few days ago I had a little bit of a meltdown in front of Garrett. I actually do that a lot, but this one involved a lot more crying. Unlike normal teenagers, instead of having sex when we're half naked, we lay there and cry about our problems and talk about space and stars and dinosaurs. We're kind of weird.
Anyway, I was upset because I said I felt alone. Of course I always have mister, but I need girl friends! My roommate and I get along, but not in a close friend kind of way. I don't have any girl friends at school yet, and I'm too nervous and awkward to make new friends!
Mister told me it only takes two letters : H and I.
I laughed at him, but over the weekend I emailed a pretty bloggy lady I have a lot in common with, and she was just as nervous to start up a conversation with me as I was!
Moral of the story : A lot of other people are just as nervous and awkward! If you want to be in a different situation or if you want to meet new people and new friends, you have to step outside of your comfort zone, or risk forever remaining the same. Stepping outside of my comfort zone is difficult for me, but I know it's something I need to do.
Besides... It only takes two letters.
P.S. Definitely go check out this pretty bloggy lady, she's kind of a doll!

  1. I love all of these quotes so much, especially the Roald Dahl one. He was a pretty smart cookie ( would have to be to come up with Matilda, my favourite ever kids book!) and I think that we all need to think about these words more often, It can be scary meeting new people but sometimes all we need to do is pick one new person each day to smile at :) Your Bf also sounds like a smart cookie, much like old Roald.

  3. Oh God, we are the same. I'm very much of an introvert, and I feel lonely sometimes even though I have my mister too, but I don't know, maybe there are good things about being lonely(:

  4. I love these quotes! I will have to pin them. I feel the same way! I think sometimes I am more introverted/lazier to get out there and make girlfriends because I have my mister (and because he is a lot less drama than most girls I know)...

  5. 3 and 4 are my faves! Sooo good :] I soooo need to step outside of my comfort zone. I am in the same boat. I get way too anxious to meet new people. I need to work on meeting some more lady friends.

  6. Your mister was right about the H & I. I'm an introvert and it took me a long time to realise that this was actually okay. I like being alone but sometimes you need someone else to talk to. Hope you manage to connect with some great people soon :) Love the word posts, I can really relate or at least think of someone it reminds me of!

  7. It's frustrating how ... hard it seems to make new friends on something more than a shallow level. I have the hardest time getting lady friends too... distance has come in between the ones I had. I guess it's a trust issue as well. Either way, I hope you find someone that will fill that space for you!

  8. For the record - chilling half naked having meaningful conversations about nothing is awesome (that's how you know that a person is truly awesome and interesting.) In fact that's actually a prerequisite for me when I imagine dating someone - like can I imagine them doing that? Just moved back into dorms this week and I've been feeling the normal sense of disconnect that you get at the beginning of the year and these are awesome pep-up quotes :)
